In the last blog I mentioned the question I wanted to explore for my main project: “How can we build a meaningful social connection by community in a new environment to I will use several different methodologies together to guide my process.

Double Diamond

My design process will be based on the Double Diamond Method (What is the framework for innovation Design Council’s evolved Double Diamond, 2021) and it is divided into four distinct phases: Discover, Define, Develop and Deliver. This double-diamond model will help me to diverge and gather ideas. In this process, I will use many design methods, such as User Journey Map, Persona, Empathy Map…

Speculative design

Speculative design is a methodology that I learned in the previous unit, which aims to stimulate thinking. The “speculation” in speculative design is the key focus, and the “design” is the medium. “Its most remarkable practical significance lies in guiding people to take common Its most remarkable practical significance lies in guiding people to take common actions, thus catalyzing the realization of social dreams (Dunne & Rubby 2013, p. 12). Rubby 2013, p. 12). I think speculative design can help me explore what good social connection are and what meaningful community looks like.

Design ethics

Many of the principles for ethical design revolve around respect for human rights, Many of the principles for ethical design revolve around respect for human rights, effort and experience, and are even inspired by the United Nations Declaration of Human Rights (Carrie, 2021). I will apply the principles of design ethics throughout the design process.

The Ethical Hierarchy of Needs illustrates that if any layer is unfulfilled, the pyramid will collapse(Carrie, 2021)
